Meet The Muirheid Family

Muirheid Farms is a corn, soybean, and wheat-focused family-run farming operation based in Cerro Gordo, Illinois. We currently farm in Macon and Piatt counties. My father, Mat, is the sixth generation, and I, Lance, am the seventh generation on the farm.

During planting season, Mat runs the planter, and during harvest, I operate the combine. I'm joined every day on the farm by my two dogs, Natty and Rocky.

The Muirheid family has been farming in and around Decatur for nearly 170 years. Muirheid Farms still proudly farms the original piece of ground our family ancestors staked out and claimed back in 1856. Our family has been literally and figuratively planting roots in the area since before the Civil War.

Farming is who we are, and we are proud of it. Our job is to feed and fuel the world, and we are extremely blessed to be able to do that work every single day, together as a family.
