Dietitian

I’m a Dietitian with expertise in agriculture, food, health, and people. My mom grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and my dad is from Chicago.  My grandfather was a dairy farmer and my great grandfather had horse-drawn coal and milk routes in the city, so I’m one of the lucky 2 percent with ties to agriculture. What I know isn’t just from school, I grew up learning and living it. The conversation about food, nutrition and agriculture just keeps getting bigger – and that’s where I come in: helping to connect farm to fork and discovering the “why” and the “how” of food and farming to help make sense of “what” farmers do.

It's all about balance

I became a dietitian to learn the science of food and nutrition to better learn for myself how to make informed decisions, and built a career inspiring people to do the same for themselves. It’s not my job, even though I am a trained nutrition professional, to tell people what to eat. My job is to listen, understand the health needs and goals for each individual who asks for my help, and work with other professionals to construct a realistic plan. One that honors cultural, religious, regional, familial, and taste bud related reasons why that person eats what they do. One that accommodates birthday cake, special family recipes, budget, and food safety.
