About Evan Marr

A farmer from the start

Farming has been my dream and in my blood since the day my dad put my boots on me as a young boy and carried me out the door to the tractor.

Fast-forward to today, and I’m getting to fulfill my dream and continue the family legacy. I farm alongside my dad, uncle and brother. We have a small beef cow-calf herd – meaning we raise mother cows and their babies until they’re ready to be weaned from milk and put on a more grain-based diet for added nutrition. We also raise corn and soybeans.

Precision farming

I put to good use my degree in precision ag technology and ag business. My role on the farm is handling part of the day-to-day operations and overseeing our data management and technology use. There’s extensive technology in today’s farming equipment that gives us a lot of data. I use the data we acquire from each season to inform our planning decisions for the next year.

Carrying on the family legacy

I hope that down the road I can stop and look back at our farm, and see how far our family has been able to take it. And I hope I can continue to have an impact and role in our success.

Until then, we’ll keep doing what we do best: raising good, successful crops and healthy, happy cattle.
