Almost Time for Harvest

Although some farmers started harvesting corn around labor day in southern Illinois, we are waiting for slightly drier conditions. (Recent rain is keeping us out of the fields.) For now, we are busy preparing all of our harvest equipment to make sure we are ready to roll when the conditions are right!

  • Make sure radios and GPS are working
  • Make sure augers and driers are working in the grain bins
  • Tuning up the engines
  • Calibrating the combine
  • And more!

Harvest will begin for us soon. The corn is probably going to need some drying (to make sure it can be stored without affecting the quality of the grain), but that isn’t too unusual. Many farmers are ready to go for harvest in Illinois… we’re just waiting for the “green light” from Mother Nature!
