Janeen Salak-Johnson, Ph.D.
Professor
I am an associate professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My background focuses primarily within the fields of animal sciences, neuroscience and immunological sciences, which I currently use to assess the welfare of production swine in various housing environments.
Mainly, I have an extremely active research program in stress and environmental physiology and animal well-being, which studies the impact that environment and stressors have on animals. One of the reasons I’m highly interested in animal welfare and behavior is because of my knowledge of the many different variables that can affect the health of an animal.
